Status: Speculative
hypothesis. The definition stipulates a concept; the existence of the
proposed physical effect has not been empirically established.
Definition. Infogravity
is the hypothesized additional gravitational effect associated with the
organization, retention, or processing of physically embodied information,
beyond the gravitational contribution attributable to its ordinary energy,
momentum, stress, and material configuration.
The concept asks whether informational relationships, such
as a record being read and used by a mechanism, contribute a distinct
gravitational coupling. It does not assume that abstract information is a
substance or that information can be directly converted into mass or energy.
Testable formulation.
A proposed test must define a measurable informational property, specify a
coupling mechanism or quantitative prediction, and distinguish the predicted
effect from conventional gravitational and nongravitational influences. A
reproducible residual associated with the specified informational property
would require independent replication and exclusion of ordinary physical
explanations.
Scope. This
definition names a conjecture. It supplies neither a demonstrated conversion
law between information and energy nor evidence for an additional gravitational
force.
