Geroflux

Geroflux, in the covolution framework, is the magnitude of the aging flow: the observable maladaptive switching flux produced by gerorhesis — the increased rate, density, or probability of unstable, off-attractor, non-required regulatory transitions during aging. It is the operational, measurable term for aging dynamics. Where Gerorhesis names the degradative flow as a process and Gerotropy its direction, geroflux is what is actually quantified in data.

Measurable forms

Geroflux manifestation Example metric
transcriptional instability increased single-cell dispersion
methylation drift increased CpG variance / aging-axis projection
off-lineage switching hybrid-identity scores
inflammatory switching NF-κB / MHC / SASP activation variability
reduced recovery slower return after perturbation
attractor broadening flatter basin / weaker identity cluster
