Geroflux
Geroflux, in the covolution framework, is the magnitude of the aging flow: the observable maladaptive switching flux produced by gerorhesis — the increased rate, density, or probability of unstable, off-attractor, non-required regulatory transitions during aging. It is the operational, measurable term for aging dynamics. Where Gerorhesis names the degradative flow as a process and Gerotropy its direction, geroflux is what is actually quantified in data.
Measurable forms
| Geroflux manifestation | Example metric |
|---|---|
| transcriptional instability | increased single-cell dispersion |
| methylation drift | increased CpG variance / aging-axis projection |
| off-lineage switching | hybrid-identity scores |
| inflammatory switching | NF-κB / MHC / SASP activation variability |
| reduced recovery | slower return after perturbation |
| attractor broadening | flatter basin / weaker identity cluster |
